Jonathan Roberts

Since 1983, Jon has developed extensive real estate capital markets experience with primary concentration in multi tenant residential rental housing and health care related assets. Jon’s niche expertise is aiding clients in navigating "tax-advantaged" capital markets products – such as the origination/engineering and reengineering of low income housing tax credit equity, historic tax credit equity, tax-exempt bond finance (housing, healthcare, cultural, not-for-profit, and industrial development), and related interest rate products (investment contracts and interest rate sensitive hedging techniques).

Jon has structured simple to complex transactions – including negotiated, privately placed and competitive bid production involving all levels of credit quality – unrated and rated, and/or enhanced and unenhanced. Key among Jon’s strengths is his extensive knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD, letter of credit, fixed or variable rate, cash and forward commitment debt financing programs.

Over Jon’s career he has participated with his clients/employers in achieving over $2 billion in total finance. His total housing expertise includes the financing of over 13,000 multifamily/student/senior housing (including ILF/ALF/hospice/mental health) units. Jon possesses a CFA designation and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA - Cleveland, Ohio Society), a CPA (inactive), and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Experience includes being the founder and principal of Roberts Consulting, LLC, a privately held capital markets consultation firm, having been the National Managing Director of Housing and HealthCare in the Public Finance Department of McDonald Investments (KeyBank), Special Financial Analyst/Treasurer for University Hospitals Health System, and Senior Auditor for Ernst & Whinney (Ernst & Young). Jon possesses a BS/BA from Boston University and a MS in Accounting from Northeastern University.
